Recup fights food waste and social exclusion in local markets.
It consists of three simple but effective actions:
- Recovers food discarded / unsold by traders
- Group and select the food recovered at a meeting point within the same
market
- Distributes the selected food equally.
In addition to these activities, Recup carries out training and food education in schools.
’recup’ was conceived in 2014 during the trip to lille of its founder Rebecca Zaccarini. Back in Italy she imported the French idea and model applying to the local reality. In 2016, after a year of collective experience, she founded Recup: Association for Social Promotion. In 2017 the competition for suburbs wins and the number of markets participating in the project has increased further and to date is growing.
