The idea of the Bolero Framework was born in an effort to further promote and increase the sustainability of an EC-funded project CASI - Public Participation in Developing a Common Framework for the Assessment and Management of Sustainable Innovation. The CASI Framework was developed by 19 European partners, in collaboration with a wide range of societal stakeholders from all EU Member States, based on a combination of different analytical approaches, participation and dialogues, and lessons from innovators’ experiences. The thoroughly tested and validated approach was adapted by the Bolero project team to a national context, in order to best serve Italian innovators, as well as other actors supporting the sustainability agenda of Italy, and beyond. The Bolero project will ensure that the research outcomes of the CASI project continue to evolve and respond to the changing needs of society.
