OW2P/P2R

The OW2P technology consists in refining dry petroleum residues to obtain valuable products. At port terminal, slops, which are a mix of ballast water and tank washing, are collected. Then oil and water are separated. Water is treated and can be downstream reused for steam production, or be charged into the sea and public sewer. Oil is distilled thanks to the P2R process into marine distillate fuel (HGO), which can be reused by diesel engines, and into fuel heavy cut (HFO), which can be used for electricity production, steam production or cement kiln. The P2R process is made of vacuum distillation column, stripper, reflux drum and heater.

SI Origin

In 2005, Michel PINGEOT, who is ECOSLOPS president & funder, noticed shippers are facing more and more stringent regulations without a viable solution to treat oily residues from ships. As Heurtey Petrochem CEO, he started giving shape to the concept of recycling ship-generated oily waste. In 2008, with the help of the company, he launched a P2R pilot plan. As a result of the success of this pilot plan, ECOSLOPS is created in 2010 to promote the development of the P2R process and its incorporation in a more global plant, the Oil Waste Processing Plant (OW2P).
