The energy-saving-check is a project for households with low income. Long-term unemployed persons are given more than 100 hours of qualified training on the topic of energy saving. They are visiting the households and are giving advice how to save energy.
The service is free of charge for the households and afterwards they will save energy and money instantly by receiving energy-saving products worth up to 70 Euros, for example energy-saving lightbulbs or water-saving showerheads. Besides that they will be given a personal saving-plan that will indicate the saving potential.
Social (incl. behavioural) - Households with low income receive consulting regarding energy saving and efficiency, which enables them to live a a sustainable lifestayle but most notably to save money and thereby improve their living conditions.
Service / Process - The service supports the behavioural aspects by pointing the households in the right direction.

SI Origin
The kick off was the discussion about lower energy prices for low income households. The Caritas had the opinion that it does not make sense to lower the prices but to teach those households to reduce their consumption. From that time the project was started and is constantly improved.
