CASI Course Exceeds Global Target

A milestone worth noting

The CASI Online Tutorial on Sustainable Innovation Assessment and Management has now issued more than 300 certificates of successful completion – a notable achievement for a course whose original target was 100.

This milestone says something important about the continuing relevance of the CASI legacy. What began as a project-based training offer has grown into a genuinely international learning resource for people working on climate action, environment, resource efficiency, and raw materials. It also shows that demand for structured, practical guidance on sustainable innovation remains strong.

Flexible learning, wider reach

Participants are encouraged to complete the full course and qualify for certification, but the design of the tutorial also allows learners to engage with individual units according to their needs and interests. That flexibility matters. It helps explain why, alongside the 300-plus certificates awarded, the course has reached more than 650 participants overall.

The tutorial has now attracted learners from over 70 countries, with especially strong participation from Europe and Latin America, and growing engagement across Africa and Asia. Colombia leads with 108 participants, followed by Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. In regional terms, Europe accounts for the largest share, but Latin America represents a substantial proportion of the community, with Africa and Asia also clearly present in the course’s global footprint.

Learning that connects concepts and action

The course is organised into six modules and twelve units, offering a structured introduction to sustainable innovation assessment and management. It begins with CASI-F in action and then broadens into key concepts, the EU context, the state of the art, pilot studies, and innovation advice. Each module is designed to be accessible while still grounded in the broader methodological ambitions of the CASI project.

What makes the course distinctive is that it does not stop at definitions. It helps participants understand how sustainable innovation can actually be assessed and managed in practice, while placing particular emphasis on the “people” dimension – especially aptitude and attitude, as essential conditions for leadership, collaboration, and long-term change.

More than a course, this has become a global entry point into the practice of sustainable innovation.
